Empower Yourself Through Horses
STRIDES OF CHANGE
Equine Assisted Learning & Mental Health Support
Have you ever felt drawn to find out more about horses? Experience their world?
Sessions include a mix of horsemanship, Mental Health, lived experience support and experiential activities, guiding you through tools which empower you toward your own unique self.
THAT’S where all your answers are... Within you.
The most powerful results come from you being authentically YOU.
Sometimes we just need a helping hand to remove the blocks in our own way, by people outside of the situation, by horses with no bias, in a space just made for this.
The paddock is where all the magic begins.
The gift of authenticity...
"Horses sense things about humans before we are even conscious of them. They reflect back to us the deeper truths within ourselves, a true gift to humanity."
What is Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)?
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) sessions include being supported by a qualified mental health practitioner to explore and work on certain topics and challenges in life, alongside one or more of our team of horses. These sessions may involve handling the horses, brushing the horses, observing and exploring horse behaviour, spending time with horses or riding. Practitioners may draw upon experiential learning activities, creative resources and a variety of explorative learning resources and activities. Sessions last for 45-50 minutes unless you book in for a longer session.EAL is not psychology or therapy. Whilst run by a qualified mental health practitioner, EAL does not aim to excavate emotional issues or address trauma and psychological conditions. In these cases we refer the client to suitable services.
What is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)?
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential form of therapy where the treatment team consists of a suitably qualified Mental Health professional, an Equine Specialist and a team of horses. “Experiential” means that you will be involved in hands-on experiences with the horses designed to reflect things going on in your life. EAP is based on experiential learning rather than cognitive therapy and can allow clients to process emotions without necessarily needing to talk about it. The process is not always about interacting with the treatment team (horses and facilitators). It is about providing you the opportunity to experience the authentic nature of horses while you explore, problem solve, gain unique insights and allow the herd to interact with you and the non-physical things you bring into the paddock. Clients often report an improved sense of self-awareness, an increase in stress-management skills, new perspectives and clarity around challenging situations, additional resources for personal problem solving and an increase in general emotional resilience.
